Our goal is to provide you with answers and resources to help make your experience a positive one. If you ever have any questions about the services your child receives, or if you feel your child should be receiving services, please give us a call. We are always happy to help.
Special Education
East Haddam Public Schools provides a variety of services and supports to ensure students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education. Students whose disability has a marked impact on their ability to learn and take advantage of the opportunities provided within the school setting and who are between the ages of three (3) and twenty-two (22) may be eligible for special education services. If you are a parent of a child who is three (3) or four (4) years old and you are concerned about their development, East Haddam Public Schools offers developmental screens on the first and third Wednesday of each month during the school year. These screens are by appointment only. If you wish to schedule an appointment or have additional questions, please contact East Haddam Elementary School at 860-873-5076. If you are a parent of a child under age three (3) and are concerned with your child’s development, please contact the Connecticut Birth-to-Three program at 211.
Section 504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits organizations who receive federal funding from discriminating against an individual based on disability. As a public school district, we receive federal funds for a variety of educational programs and services. Section 504 seeks to ensure that students enrolled in public education can access all programs and services provided by our school district. Often, this means the development of a plan, commonly known as a 504 Plan that outlines needed accommodations, services, and/or supports so that a student can fully participate in our programs.
If your child has, or you suspect your child to have a disability, please contact your child’s teacher or school administrator to discuss and/or arrange for a 504 team meeting to determine if your child is eligible for protections under this law.
Safe Schools
At East Haddam Schools, we believe that in order for a classroom or school to be conducive to learning, it must be free from threat, harassment, intimidation, or any other type of bullying behavior. We do not tolerate any kind of bullying at EHPS.
Our goal is to cultivate a school climate in which students feel safe, supported, engaged, and challenged to grow and pursue their educational and personal goals in all aspects of their personhood—socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.
If your child feels unsafe or harassed, you or your child are strongly encouraged to file a complaint. If your child feels bullied, or sees another child being bullied, please report it to your child’s principal or submit a bullying report to the appropriate school by following the link below.

If you have believe you or your child was subject to discrimination as outlined by the American’s with Disability Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and other civil rights or discrimination issues, please contact our district compliance officer, Joshua Martin.
