A Message from Our Superintendent

Welcome to the website for East Haddam Public Schools!

East Haddam Public Schools is a small community district with many opportunities for our students and families. We focus on the whole child with our programming from pre-kindergarten through our high school.

Before children are ready to enter pre-kindergarten, our East Haddam Elementary School is the home to the East Haddam Family Resource Center where families can attend with their toddlers for a variety of play and learn programs that not only bring children together, but their parents as well.

Our elementary school offers both a full day universal pre-kindergarten as well as a peer mentor program for our students with special needs. As students enter kindergarten through third grade, they engage in a balanced experience of developmentally appropriate core academics, world language, STEM, art, music, and technology instruction.

Our Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School starts in fourth grade where the programs from the elementary school carry through the middle school years. In addition to these programs, students experience gifted and talented programs, instrumental and choral programs, athletics, and clubs that keep our students engaged in more than just academics. We encourage all our students to engage in these programs as they support social emotional growth and wellbeing. These academic and life skills prepare them for the move to high school.

The theme of abounding opportunities for our students grows at Nathan Hale-Ray High School. The programs at the high school span from entrepreneurial to advanced manufacturing. We give students the opportunity to experience a variety of world languages, numerous advanced placement classes, and early college experience classes. Nathan Hale-Ray High School hosts thriving agriculture and technical education programs, which include courses such as auto CAD and 3D printing, engineering, app design, veterinary science, behavior and training of domestic animals, to name just a few. We supplement these course selections with multiple athletic options, music and drama productions, and diverse clubs for any and every student. Our recent connection with Goodwin University is an example of our commitment to students who choose post-graduate options other than a four-year college as we support and encourage of all our students’ different goals and aspirations.

The above paragraphs are just a summary of highlights of our district, and we are excited to share more with you. Thank you for taking the time to read this page, and enjoy our new website.
