Math Challenge

As we wrap up the school year and look ahead to a well-deserved summer break, we want to share an exciting opportunity that supports continued growth and learning during the months ahead—the Connecticut State Department of Education's Summer Math Challenge.

Mathematics plays a vital role in everyday life and is foundational to your child’s success both in and out of the classroom. Over the summer, many students experience the “summer slide,” where important math skills may decline without regular practice. To help prevent this and promote academic success, we are encouraging our middle school students to participate in the Summer Math Challenge.

This year, our district will be using Khan Academy, a trusted and free online platform that provides high-quality, self-paced instruction tailored to each student’s learning level. Through engaging and accessible lessons, your child can strengthen the math skills they’ve gained this year and build confidence going into the next grade.

We hope all families will consider taking advantage of this opportunity. Just a small amount of consistent practice each week can make a big difference.
