Instruction
The
Superintendent or designee is authorized to take whatever action is necessary
in the interest of safety and welfare of the students, including but not
limited to, the postponement of a school session, early dismissal of a school
session, deferred beginning of a school session, or interruption of a school
session. The Superintendent will report
such action to the Board of Education no later than the next meeting following
the emergency action.
The
Superintendent or his/her designee shall have the authority to close schools
due to transportation difficulties or other emergencies.
The
Superintendent shall notify the Board of Education Chairperson upon closing of
school forthwith.

Instruction
Emergency Closing of School
The
closing of school because of extremely bad weather or other severe emergencies
will be announced during the early morning hours on television, radio and other
appropriate sources as follows:
1. Building
Principals, bus company and maintenance department will be notified as soon as
a decision is reached. They will be
responsible for informing their staff.
2. Local
and regional stations will be notified of a decision reached. This will be done by the Superintendent or a
designee.
