Students
Awards for Achievement
The Board of Education believes that student achievement
should be recognized at all levels in a manner appropriate to the student’s
accomplishment. A variety of programs may be implemented to recognize
excellence such as honor rolls, honor societies and citizenship and leadership
awards. The Board encourages school
recognition ceremonies and community recognition ceremonies to honor
scholarship and distinguished character and leadership abilities.
The Board directs the Superintendent or his/her designee
to develop criteria and procedures for presenting suitable awards to students for scholarship,
outstanding accomplishments in the arts, athletics and citizenship, and
distinguished service in any school activity. In all cases, the relationship
between the award and the relevant goal or goals of the schools should be
emphasized. The procedures may include certificates, assemblies or other
special marks of recognition.
