Smoking, Drinking and Use of Drugs on School Premises

 

 

Drug Free Schools and Communities Act

 

All employees of the East Haddam Schools are hereby notified that the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession or use of illicit drugs and alcohol is prohibited on school premises and during any school sponsored activities.

 

Employees who violate the standards of conduct will be subject to disciplinary action, consistent with applicable state and federal laws, and referral for criminal prosecution.  Disciplinary action may include, but is not limited to, a letter of reprimand, suspension or termination from employment, and/or enrollment and successful completion of an appropriate substance abuse rehabilitation program.

 

Members of the administrative and supervisory staff shall report any suspected violation of the standards of conduct directly to the Superintendent of Schools who will immediately investigate the allegation and meet with the alleged violator.  Any disciplinary sanctions imposed will be consistently applied for all similar offenses.
